They include: Performing hand hygiene is fundamental to the practice of medical asepsis and is key to reducing the potential for transmission of infectious agents. There are several key principles that must be applied in medical asepsis or “clean technique”. Perform hand hygiene Use of personal protective equipment according to standard precautions Clean and disinfect shared patient equipment Clean and disinfect the environment Healthcare providers: Current with recommended immunizations, Maintaining good personal hygiene and Not working when sick. To achieve medical asepsis we must understand what is dirty, what is clean, what is sterile, how to keep these things separate, and how to remedy any contamination that might occur. Medical asepsis should be used when performing any healthcare related activity. ![]() Necessary components of medical asepsis include: Knowing what is dirty Knowing what is clean Knowing what is sterile How to keep the first three conditions separate How to remedy contamination immediately Medical asepsis is based on several measures with the goal of controlling the number of microorganisms, not making things sterile. Medical asepsis is used for all clinical patient care activities. Now we are going to discuss each of these in a little more detailĤ Medical Asepsis Medical asepsis, also known as “clean technique” is aimed at controlling the number of microorganisms. Unlike medical asepsis, the goal of surgical asepsis is to remove all infectious organisms and prevent the introduction of any organism into a normal sterile body site. The second one is surgical asepsis, also referred to as sterile technique, used only during surgical procedures. In medical asepsis, emphasis is placed on removing most, but not all, of the infectious organisms, to reduce transmission from one person to another. The first one is medical asepsis, also referred to as clean technique, used during most routine patient care activities and non-surgical procedures. In all healthcare settings, including outpatient, two types of asepsis may be used based on the activity. It is a broad term that is defined as “being free from disease producing microorganisms”. Medical Asepsis Surgical Asepsis Definition Clean Technique Sterile Technique Emphasis Freedom from most pathogenic organisms Freedom from all pathogenic organisms Purpose Reduce transmission of pathogenic organisms from one patient-to -another Prevent introduction of any organism into an open wound or sterile body cavity We need to spend a little time talking about what the term “Asepsis” means in healthcare. ![]() Describe the principles and practice of asepsis Understand the role of hand hygiene in asepsis Understand the role of the environment in disease transmissionģ Defining Asepsis (Free from disease producing microorganisms) ![]() Understand the role of hand hygiene in asepsis Understand the role of the environment in disease transmission There are three main objectives for this module. To make these lenses at home, you would need one sheet of counterclockwise circular polarized plastic, and one sheet of clockwise polarized plastic (also called left- and right-handed). Modern 3D glasses usually use circular polarized light, which doesn't require the viewer to keep his head still while watching. ![]() The actual explanation of polarized light is more technical than described above. ![]() Just make sure to rotate both lenses at the same time, since they should always be made from film oriented exactly 90º apart. This is the most common design, but you may need to rotate the lens while looking at the 3D image to see what works. Rotate the film another 90º in either direction, and cut out the second lens. X Research source Rotate the film 45º from the vertical, then cut out a lens. The field-of-view may differ for other eye-to-lens distances or screen sizes NOTE: The field-of-view of non-circular views is calculated as the circular area that is equal to the area that the view covers in fish-eye projection. This allows developers to build applications in the same JavaScript environment they use to create web pages. Node.js is currently the most popular platform for building fast, responsive, and scalable web applications. It incorporates a program interface between JavaScript and the operating system that is non-blocking, allowing it to handle higher requests in less time and with fewer resources. Ryan Dahl first released Node.js in 2009 as an open-source project on GitHub. Node.js is gaining popularity due to its performance, scalability, and cross-platform capabilities, making it even more ideal for developing web applications that run on multiple platforms. Node.js is an open-source JavaScript runtime environment that allows developers to write server-side code using JavaScript. Then came Node.js, which is currently very popular and has built thousands of websites and applications that can run on multiple platforms. Therefore, the developers are considering whether Javascript can be run on the server side so that web developers only need to master one programming language, namely Javascript. But all of that can only be run on the client or browser side web developers must still understand programming on the server side, such as PHP, ASP, and others. In that era, AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) emerged, and many JavaScript libraries to make programming more accessible, such as Jquery, Angular JS, and others. Javascript is run in the browser to manipulate web pages, and maybe your website's backend is PHP and MySQL. In short steps you just set up a complete web development environment. If you are an old web programmer, you are familiar with JavaScript to beautify or make the web pages you build more dynamic. If you want to install express locally to the application you first would change to the application directory and then issue a:Īs mentioned, this will create a “node_modules” folder (if not already there) and place the express module in it. In short, for installing express globally you would do: In order to install a module globally you simply append the “-g” flag to your install statement. Local modules are installed in the “node_modules” within your application folder whereas global modules will be installed in a global “node_modules” folder (within the path of nodejs itself). With every Nodejs application you can install modules for the application only or install them globally, so they are available to all applications. But before doing so, you should understand the difference between *global* and *local* modules. Since Express is for Nodejs we can now use npm to install express into our application. Express is the web application framework written for Nodejs. With npm installed you can now install Express. Now, in order to do some serious development with Nodejs you will also want to install NPM (which stands for Node Packaged Modules) which allows you to expand Node with, e.g. Thus you can simply issue “node” in the terminal. This install node and also adds it to your path. Once installed, you can simply install Nodejs with: To install Homebrew use this (in the terminal): In the many years I’ve used Homebrew I hardly ever had any issues with it. ![]() Homebrew pulls downs its updates from a global repository and keeps all packages up-to-date. I play A LOT of games and I'm tired of playing the same old crap, so much of what comes out is an embarassment. You can put up with it and go exploring anyway but there isn't much to find that adds to the experience. Why do you want me to occupy your space and then make me move at a snails pace to get anywhere? It dissuades exploring. I understand that the narrative is different with each playthrough but this is something that can still be done with non interactive video.īottom line is that my biggest gripe was that I felt punished for wanting to explore. I know it's incredibly basic but when you make a piece of art you need to ask yourself "why is this the best medium for what I am trying to express?" You'd be surprised how many people don't ask themself that question. It didn't really move me or inspire me as it did with so many other people.Ī week later I played the game Journey (amazing) and it put into perspective all the issues I had with Dear Esther, which is pretty much that I didn't get the impression that it needed to be interactive. When it finished I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I "played" it all in one sitting as I expect it's supposed to be, lights off, alone, quiet house. I understood that this was a special kind of experience that required a certain mood so I waited for the proper time. I bought it when it was on sale months ago and was really eager to get into it because I heard a lot about it. Because it's on sale and someone is likely wondering if they should buy it, I wanted to offer my opinion the same way that so many of you are eager to offer yours. This so-called 'game' is really nothing more than a short, slow walkthrough of a landscape. Save your money, put it towards a more rewarding experience.Īll this guy says is completely correct. It ends up feeling like a chore, like you are only "playing" because you've heard a lot about it and you want to get it over with so you can form an opinion. Since exploring sucks you decide to follow the shortest path to hear more of the narration and get to the next location, you might as well not be interacting. You walk so slowly that exploring feels more punishing than rewarding (especially since exploring doesn't give you much to discover). This isn't really a game, sure it's an interactive experience but there isn't much to the interaction. This second stockpile may permit barrels. The second stockpile is set to "take from links only", and is linked to take from the first stockpile (and the two stockpiles are extremely close together). This stockpile is typically quite small, because it only holds items temporarily. The first stockpile is set to "take from anywhere", and disallows barrels. Multiple stockpile designs Double stockpileĪnother design that works well for seeds uses two stockpiles. You will continue to get some planting job cancellations when a bag is removed to pick up new seeds, but it is nowhere near as bad as the situation you get with barrels. Seeds will continue to be stored in bags (you cannot stop this by any means, if empty, unforbidden bags exist). The simplest design is to disallow barrels in the seed stockpile. There are a few designs that try to mitigate this problem. And if any new seeds have been generated while that's going on, then the cycle never ends. The planter can't use any of those seeds until the barrel has been dragged out, and then finally dragged back to the original stockpile. As soon as this job is created, the whole barrel full of seed bags (which may be every seed in the entire fortress) is marked for hauling and is unavailable for any other purpose, including planting crops. Some dwarf will be assigned to take the barrel out of the stockpile, drag it to the dining room where the bag is, and put the bag into the barrel. Since there is a non-full barrel already in the stockpile, the job will be "Store Item in Barrel". Once the bag has been taken to the dining room and has acquired one (or possibly several) new seeds, the stockpile will generate another job to bring the bag back. All the seeds in it are now unavailable for use - and the dwarf hasn't even picked it up yet!īut it gets worse. However, as soon as this job has been created, the bag is marked as being part of the hauling job. Some dwarf will be assigned to take the bag of plump helmet spawn out of the stockpile, bring it to the dining room where the seed is, and put the seed into the bag. If there is already a bag of plump helmet spawn in the stockpile, then the job will be "Store Item in Bag". The stockpile will eventually realize this has occurred, and will generate a job to acquire the seed. Now, suppose some dwarf eats a plump helmet and generates a plump helmet spawn. (All barrel- and bin-using stockpiles try to keep one empty container for future use.) The barrels can hold a huge number of seed bags, so there will be a small number of very full barrels. In the "stockpile at rest" (when no new seeds have been generated in a long time), we will most likely have 1 or 2 barrels full of seed bags, plus one empty barrel. Let's take a closer look at why this happens. If you simply create a food stockpile next to the farm, and disable everything except seeds, the default settings will allow the use of barrels to store the seed bags. Seeds are stored in food stockpiles, in bags the bags in turn will be stored in barrels or large pots if you allow it, and if enough empty barrels/pots are available. Your planters need seeds to sow crops in farm plots. The classic example of this problem is the seed stockpile. ![]() The solution to this issue is to minimize the amount of time a container full of items spends being hauled, either by avoiding the use of containers altogether, or by minimizing the distance a container will travel. If a hauling job takes a month, then all the items involved in that job are unavailable for an entire month. While an item is being hauled, or is inside a container which is tasked for hauling, it can't be used. One of the major problems you will face in a fortress with inefficient stockpile design is the endless "spam" of job cancellations due to items being hauled. 3 Workshop layout for efficient haulingĪvoiding hauling-caused job cancellations.1 Avoiding hauling-caused job cancellations. ![]() The reader can also download a fully functional 30-day trial version to test out the software from the following link –. Wear and tear in the differential can cause the components, like gears, shafts, and bearings, to malfunction.Īnd due to this, the differential becomes unable to meet its purpose in the car, meaning it can’t ensure the proper power transfer from the engine to the wheels. You should never allow wear and tear in your car’s differential. Increased Wear and Tearĭo you know the reasons for increased wear and tear in the differential? This usually happens when the protector, in this case the fluid, becomes contaminated. Here are the consequences if the differential fluid remains unchanged for a long time and why you should change it. However, if you choose to act differently, the differential may suffer, and the repair expenses you will have to pay will be quite upsetting. What Happens if You Never Change Differential Fluid?ĭo you have any valid reasons for not changing the differential fluid in your car or SUV? Changing the differential after a specific time won’t cost you too much money. You cannot expect the differential to work properly for this reason. For instance, whether the differential is open or limited slip.Įven though the differential fluid appears dirty and dark, some people don’t seem motivated to change it.Īnd doing this is not at all a smart move. In the case of the Jeep Wrangler, the differential fluid 80w-90 or 75w-140 is often used.Īdditionally, depending on the type of differential, you typically need to use a specific type of differential fluid. We have observed that synthetic gear oil (FAX-XO) is frequently used in BMWs. The fluid is, in our opinion, bare enough to maintain the differentials. Usually, The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) measures the viscosity rating for different fluids. The viscosity of the differential fluid, which absorbs heat produced by friction, enables smooth lubrication and cooling. Here, the differential fluids come into play based on your vehicle’s make and model. Different gears, bearings, and shafts in the differential continuously engage with each other.Īs the differential components are continually engaged, they need proper lubrication to allow the components to function correctly by reducing extreme frictions. The differential for any car or SUV is one of the busiest components. ![]() How Does Differential Fluid Work?Ī differential’s primary function is to allow each wheel to rotate at its own unique pace by allowing power from the engine to transfer to the wheels. But if the differential fluid remains unchanged for a long time, you might bear high repair costs.Īnd you might never want to reduce the efficiency of your vehicle’s differential.īut why should you badly need to change the differential fluid regularly?
